
About
Kate qualified as a counsellor via Greenwich University in 2011 and became accredited as a counsellor and psychotherapist in 2014. Her senior accreditation status was obtained in 2022, and included becoming senior accredited as a supervisor.

Kate has worked for the NHS in a GP Practice for many years as well as for charities such as I Choose Freedom, a charity for people fleeing domestic abuse, and a rape and sexual abuse support charity. Between 2011 and 2020 Kate set up and ran the South Godstone Equine Assisted Therapy Centre using her horses to work more deeply with adults and young people affected by trauma.

Kate offers a warm, friendly and empathetic approach which combines her ever increasing knowledge and experience. Her work is trauma informed and influenced by Attachment Theory (Bowlby), neuroscience, the need for psycho-education and authors such as Carolyn Spring, Dr Dan Hughes, Babette Rothschild, Sue Gerhardt, Christine Sanderson, Peter Levine, Janina Fisher, Bessell Van der Kolk, Gabor Mate and Mick Cooper.

In 2015 Kate qualified as a clinical Supervisor and has worked within a range of settings. Whether within an organisation or privately, Kate's supportive approach enables individuals to develop at their own pace and manage challenge. In 2015, Kate also obtained a distinction in her certificate for Family Therapy.

In 2019 Kate completed an additional qualification specialising in teenage counselling at The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE). This has also led to a more creative bias in her therapy work.

Kate obtained a certificate in Interpersonal Neurobiology and has increasingly used her understanding of how the brain and body works to inform her practice. She is continuing to study this fascinating topic and has recently completed the next module.

Kate has an enhanced DBS. She has up to date 'Designated Safeguarding Training' (Level 3) and Emergency First Aid at Work. She is her own Data Protection Controller and has a Data Protection policy. Kate adheres to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework. Kate has professional indemnity insurance as well as a civil liability policy which insures her to work therapeutically using her horses and other animals.

Kate's premises, with the benefit of her beautiful shepherd's hut, offers a rural and quiet space for her clients. Surrounded by her animals within the privacy of her own land, Kate offers her clients both indoor and outdoor spaces to work and ensures that her clients' privacy and confidentiality is protected at all times.
